It’s really sad because I want my Fugees back. I really can’t stand to hear all this awful talk about Lauryn Hill anymore. She’s a god in my eyes. I’ve yet to see any of these terrible performances I keep hearing of. I refuse to watch them. Even if they are horrible I’ll probably still enjoy them because it’s freaking Lauryn Hill. The first CD Album I ever bought was ‘The Score’. I guess it’s better this way anyhow. Somehow I think if they were to ever record another album it would end up sounding along the lines of a Timbaland/Will.I.AM record and then their legacy would be ruined for me. “Ooo la la la it’s the way we rock, when we doing our thing”
I spoke with someone over lunch today and I ended up quite disappointed. After brief conversation I asked whether or not they were going to watch the Democratic Presidential Debate tonight. I’ve taken quite an interest in viewing it because first off I care what the candidates have to say even if I already know who I want to vote for, and secondly because it’s going to be a part of history. The candidates will be debating over questions via YouTube. It’s fascinating and I can’t wait to see how it works. It’s going to change the way we’ve seen debates before. This ignorant person told me no. That didn’t upset me, the thing that upset me was when they said “I don’t even know who’s running. Who’s running? Is that woman…ah what’s her name? Clinton”. I think that’s very sad that there are still people out there who I don’t think are sheltered but still don’t know anything about this race. Some may know there’s a woman in the running or a black man but they know nothing of their platforms. I know someone who wants to vote for Hilary strictly because she is a woman. How can you not care at all?
After asking this person how they could not possibly know one person who was running when I could name almost everyone (i’m a politics buff) all they had to simply say was “I don’t care about Politics. I don’t watch the news, It’s just people dieing.” I’m in shock, in awe. Well do you know why these people are dieing? People, pleaseee take some time out of your busy schedules and watch the debate tonight. Don’t just listen to the news and think you’re a genius. My dad will watch a special every so often and then think he’s a genius on the subject. He doesn’t realize these channels can be biased and you can’t learn the whole situation in a few clips in a half hour. I don’t get it how people can not be interested at all. Shock is not even the word for it.
Fiddy is suing over these ads which i’m sure you have seen, that say “Shoot the Rapper” and feature a rapper that looks a whole lot like 50 himself. I wouldn’t sue over it personally. I’d hate to admit that was me with the funky teeth. He’s suing the ad company Traffix for $1 million. Money is an issue for 50 these days if you didn’t know. I don’t understand why this would upset the hip-hop community. It’s not like the PHOTOGRAPHER is shooting him with a gun and poking fun at his getting shot a bunch of times. Lighten up. Did Curtis try the game and realize it’s all a scam and that’s why he’s pissed?
Chuck Norris fills in on Hannity & Colmes. Who cares about Timz? He’s just trying to make money off of his parents, he’s not an Iraqi…..the dude says he’s from San Diego. But hey, I guess you need a gimmick to be in the hip-hop game. The guy is dumb to go on Fox News and bash the war. And yes, you are promoting Sadam. And then he says he had it tough? Jay-Z & his 40/40 Club are getting hit with lawsuits from unpaid employees. Allegations include that the club owned by jigga has been paying employees under minimum wage, keeping a percentage of the workers’ tips, & refusing overtime pay for them. (I can believe the story though many believe it’s just a scam. I have worked in that industry and can tell you plenty of times I was paid wrong. Also management did refuse to give over time and tips were taking a lot of the time.) Over 100 employees have joined the suit. Over 100? Over 10 tells you there is a problem here. Hopefully this isn’t true, Shawn Carter, but I have a hard time believing that this many people can be in on one big scam. The spokesman for the 40/40, Ron Berkowitz says the allegations are false and the club has not been served any papers yet.

Don’t they realize that those videos & quizzes are jokes! The book? OMG, this is soooo funny! 99% of “Emo” kids…. just follow the style it is not an actual movement … of self mutilation. Gender bending: Hahaha! Look out for bracelets!!! They completely took everything out of context and made this very misleading. This is the media we are talking about. They threw in bits of clips that were for humor. How can they generalize the whole Emo community on one kid they met at a mall? I’m just surprised this wasn’t a Fox News Report.

In the Darfur region of western Sudan, a genocide is occuring. Each day, civilians face prospects of mass killings, torture, rape, destruction of villages, theft and other human rights abuses at the hands of the Janjaweed militias-bands of fighters backed by the Sudanese government. Since the start of the conflict in Darfur in February of 2003:
-Nearly 3 million people have been affected by the crisis.
-More than 300,000 people have died from conflict and diseases.
-2.5 million civilians have been displaced by the conflict.
Sony, in attempts to get some exposure and promote the UK launch of God of War II brought a decapitated goat to their greek themed costume party and had attendees reach inside to feast upon the goat’s insides. Turns out the insides were not goat flesh as previous rumors were reported but instead the goat was filled with a meat soup. This same meat soup was fed to everyone there in China bowls. Pictures of the feast were featured in the Offical PS2 Magazine. There were pictures of topless women in them as well. This issue has been recalled for all 80,000 issues originally put out on newstands. What is PETA going to say?
The Mayor of Ithaca, Carolyn Peterson has made May 8th, Grateful Dead Day in honor of the 30th anniversary of one of their infamous show that took place on that day back in 1977 at Cornell University’s Barton Hall. To celebrate this event, Dark Star Orchestra will do a recreation of the legendary concert. Tickets for the show are on sale for $24.50 at www.stateofithaca.com.
