Flight of the Conchords: Humans Are Dead

July 24, 2007

Both: The distant future
The distant future
J: It is the distant future
The year 2000
B: We are robots
J: The world is very different ever since the robot uprising of the mid-90s.
There is no more unhappiness.
B: Affirmative
J: We no longer say yes. Instead we say ‘affirmative’.
B: Yes, affirmative.
J: Unless it’s a more colloquial situation with a few robo-friends.
J: There is only one kind of dance, the robot
B: And the robo-boogie
J: Oh yes. Two kinds of dances.
Both: Finally, robotic beings rule the world
The humans are dead
The humans are dead
We used poisonous gases
And we poisoned there asses
B: The humans are dead
J: That’s right they are dead
B: The humans are dead
J: They look like they’re dead
B: It had to be done
J: I’ll just confirm that they’re dead
B: So that we could have fun
J: Affirmative. I poked one. It was dead.

Flight of the Conchords: I’m Not Crying Lyrics

July 24, 2007

So, you’re leaving, aren’t you?
I knew it when you said just then when you told me you were leaving
That’s when I definitely knew
But if you’re trying to break my heart
Your plan is flawed from the start
You can’t break my heart, it’s liquid
It melted when I met you
And as you turn around to leave
Don’t’ turn back to me
Don’t turn around and see if I’m crying
I’m not crying
I’m not crying
It’s just been raining on my face
And if you think you see some tear tracks down my face
Please don’t tell my mates
I’m not crying
No, I’m not crying
And if I am crying
It’s not because of you
It’s because I’m thinking of a friend of mine who you don’t know who is dying
That’s right, dying
These aren’t tears of sadness because you’re leaving me
I’ve just been cutting onions
I’m making a lasagna
For one
Oh, I’m not crying
No
There’s just a little bit of dust in my eye
That’s from the path that you made when you said your goodbye
I’m not weeping because you won’t be here to hold my hand
For your information there’s an inflammation in my tear gland
I’m not upset because you left me this way
My eyes are just a little sweaty today
They’ve been seaching around
They’re like searching for you
They’ve been looking around
Even though I told them not to
These aren’t tears of sadness
They’re tears of joy
I’m just laughing
Ha ha ha-ha ha
Sitting at this table called love
Staring down at the irony of life
How come we’ve reached this fork in the road
And yet it cuts like a knife?
I’m not crying
I’m not crying
I’m not cry-y-y-y-
-y-y-y-y-ing

Flight of the Conchords: Most Beautiful Girl In The Room Lyrics

July 24, 2007

Flight of the Conchords is a comedy/parody series that follows two musicians/comedians Jemaine and Bret who have uprooted themselves from New Zeleand to NYC to try and achieve fame and success. Occasionally they break into song to develop plot or to express themselves when they can not out loud.  It’s on HBO, it’s hilarious. Music and comedy? Holy shit, you’ve got a hit! It’s pretty genius in it’s entirety.

Looking at the room, I can tell that you.
Are the most beautiful girl in the…room.
(In the whole wide room).
And when you’re on the street, depending on the street.
I bet you are definitely in the top 3.
Good lookin girls on the street.
(Depending on the streets).
And when I saw you at my man’s place.
I thought…what, is she, doing…at my man’s place.
How did he get a hottie like that to a party like this?
Good one, Dave.
(Ooh, you’re a LEGEND, Dave).

I asked Dave if he’s going to move on you.
He’s not sure.
“Dave, do you mind if I do?”
He says he doesn’t mind.
But I can tell he kind of minds.
But I’m going to do it anyway.

I see you standing all alone by the stereo.
I dim the lights down very low.
You’re so beautiful.
You could be a waitress.
You’re so beautiful.
You could be a air hostess in the 60s.
You’re so beautiful.
You could be a part-time model.
But then I seal the deal, I do my moves.
I do my dance moves.

Lets travel through, just me and you.
As other dudes around you on the dance floor.
I draw you near, lets get out of here.
Lets get in a cab. I’ll buy you a kabob.
I can’t believe. I’m sharing a kabob.
With the most beautiful girl I have ever seen with a kabob.
Oh, why don’t we leave?
Lets go to my house.
We can feel each other up on the couch.
Oh no, I don’t mind taking it slow.

Cause you’re so beautiful…
Like a tree. Or a high class prostitute.
You’re so beautiful.
You could be a part time model.
But you’d probably still have to keep your normal job.
A part time model.
Spend part of your time modeling.
And part of your time next to me.

My place is usually a bit tidier than this.

Hail Social

If it’s not obvious, I’m a big fan of the Phili music scene. Plastic Little, Sweatheart, the list goes on. The next group I discovered was Hail Social, which live up to the area’s fellow infamous artists. What the hell is in the water? Is it the steak?

Their second album ‘Modern Love & Death’ is out now (March 20th)and you can get it on iTunes. If you buy it off of insound you will receive two exclusive free MP3S with it.

Amazon Launches Go Indie

May 2, 2007

amazon.jpg

I’ve been a big fan of Amazon.com for years. I love how easy it is to shop the damn site and the wish list? Forget about it, I’ve got pages and pages of shit on that list. Half the shit will always be on the wish instead of in the checkout bag. Now my favorite and the world’s favorite online retailer has now started a brand new category in it’s music section entitled “Go Indie”. They would like to embrace more indie artists and labels (not just indie rock) on their site. Is it extraordinary? No, but it’s a step and will definitely get promotion for lesser known bands that deserve a wider audience. They have 150 indie albums for just $9.99.

  • “Go Indie
  • Tired of being the last to find out about the latest trends in music? Fed up with the same old pop pap? There’s only one thing to do. Go Indie. Not sure how? No worries! It’s an easy three-step process:
  • 1. Build a spectacular music collection with your choice of 150 CDs for just $9.99 each.
  • 2. Read all about ground-breaking, game-changing indie labels below, watch music videos, and prepare to wow your friends and family with your insider knowledge of music history.
  • 3. Bask in your new indie cred.”

American Sneakers

Noone sounds like this, noone sounds like American Sneakers. I really like their music and I normally don’t like acoustic all that much. You should really check out more of their other songs on their myspace page to get a feel for them. I’m wicked digging this group.

“American Sneakers is the duo of musician/producer Steven Ward James and visual artist/song writer Jayson Scott Musson. James’ acoustic guitar playing breathed life into the scraps of words that Musson had floating around in his small sad head, pulling them all together to create the beautiful and simple songs on the Darts & Daggers LP. Philadelphia’s famed artist Jim Houser provides the original visual packaging for American Sneakers.” -Free News Project

You can buy the whole album ‘Darts and Daggers’ here.
