Bill O’Reilly Vs. Nas

September 4, 2007

Are you kidding me? He’s got to be stupid to go after Nas? When I think of violent rappers, Nas is definitely not the first to come to mind. Nas? Nas?! Nas is rapping about the pain, the struggle, and makes motivational songs. I don’t think “gangster” or “guns” when I think of Nas. This is a bunch of crap.

Public Enemy: Harder Than You Think Video

August 3, 2007

Even though Flav has become this horrible annoying icon, I still think Public Enemy is harder than you think. I’ve always loved Public Enemy. A man who disrespects New York twice in a row is a man with big balls or a big clock, you know how it is. You’ve got to put up with some Flav to get Chuck D. And Chuck D is a legend to me. I love his delivery despite all the haters. Public Enemy is still doing their thing, they’re still good as hell. Just like that! They are still representing. The Flavaa of Love was a good show anyway, good entertainment. “How You Sell Soul to a Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul???” is the name of their new record hitting August 7th. That’s such a badass name, it’s wicked. That’s the coolest shit ever.

Aesop Rock: None Shall Pass

August 1, 2007

Aesop Rock’s newest LP, None Shall Pass, can’t come out soon enough. I can not wait till the day it drops August 28th (too far away). I’ve been a big Aesop fan since day one. I’ve been waiting oh so long. It’s the only reason I want the summer to end quickly. Every song i’ve heard so far is killer. He’s back and greater than ever. Have you heard “Coffee“? It is insane and John Darnielle from The Mountain Goats is in it. I’m dieing with anticipation… Preorder None Shall Pass and get a signed copy & poster.

The Fugee Boys Just Won’t Shut Up

Wyclef told Scratch Magazine:

  • So what’s ultimately holding you guys back?
Lauryn is straight up the problem, bro. She wants to be a producer. Don’t come telling us how to chop up beats so you can get credit for it.
  • What makes you think she would take the credit?
We did a remix [with] Lauryn for John Legend, for the record “How High.” John Legend was saying our names. You know what she had [him] do? She was like, “Take off Wyclef and Jerry’s names.” Because she wanted people to think that she was the one doing the beat…I’m a producer and I’m a beatmaker with my cousin Jerry Wonder, and I’m a writer. She’s a writer, a vocalist, [and] a great [vocal] composer. And she’s great at picking out samples. She got 20 billion samples but can’t chop ‘em up to save her life.
  • So she hasn’t made any of the beats she got credit for?
It’s real simple, if you did the beats, where are the beats? Show us one beat that you did. If you bring ‘Clef to the studio, put an MP, put an SP, put a bunch of stuff, bring a bunch of cameras [and] say, “Clef, do a beat in two minutes.” The beat’s done! Bring Lauryn Hill in the studio with the same camera, say we give you three hours. Matter fact, fuck it, we’ll give you a month to do a beat. She can’t put it together!

CHAM TV

I hate Ridin’ Dirty with a passion (i’m sorry) but this is catchy. I’m impressed for the first time, I mean Chamillionaire’s stepping it up a bit. He’s becoming a tad bit of a story teller. I admire the fact he made a radio friendly song that while still keeping a catchy beat and chorus has a story behind it and keeps your intrigued. Plus you’ve got to give him props for becoming a white guy for the video. It’s pretty darn hilarious watching him sing ‘it’s murrrder’. (Didn’t Yung Joc just recently do a video where he played all the characters? Yeah, he did.) And Slick Rick dueting? Major props Cham! Slick Rick the Ruler is ill.
