Darfur is Dying is a narrative-based simulation where the user from the perspective of a displaced Darfurian, negotiates forces that threaten the survival of his or her refugee camp. It offers a faint glimpse of what it’s like for the more than 2.5 million who have been internally displaced by the crisis in Sudan.

In the Darfur region of western Sudan, a genocide is occuring. Each day, civilians face prospects of mass killings, torture, rape, destruction of villages, theft and other human rights abuses at the hands of the Janjaweed militias-bands of fighters backed by the Sudanese government. Since the start of the conflict in Darfur in February of 2003:

  •   -Nearly 3 million people have been affected by the crisis.
    -More than 300,000 people have died from conflict and diseases.
    -2.5 million civilians have been displaced by the conflict.
