Deck the Halls with Bob Dylan

November 20, 2009

Why is everyone hating on Bob Dylan? I for one, would have liked to been invited to this Christmas party. Who spiked the egg-nog? Bob Dylan is clearly drunk, wearing a wig, and he is dancing. It’s pretty awesome. It’s a drunken sing-a-long polka song.

His new Christmas album is also for charity. With all of the stuffy same Christmas music there is out there, I think this one is definitely a good change. I feel like the Dropkick Murphys should jump in and do a square dance in the middle of the video.

Urban Rock Band

November 15, 2009

I’m real late to post on this, I’ve been sitting on it for a while.

Here’s a quick shout out to a group called Urban Rock Band. I get a lot of emails about stupid rappers with stupid catchy songs a lot. But this was different, it bit my ear as soon as I heard it. I knew this band was completely different then anything I’ve heard in a while. Despite being new to my ears, they have been around for some time. The band consists of Sdaerd and “Lucky” Logan P. McCoy. Their sound is definitely experimental.

Now for this song: “Black Morning” There are a lot of different elements to the sound. I love the darkness and raw feel of it. Sometimes adding a rock element can screw up a hip hop song, but Black Morning comes out on top. While the song is supposed to be deep in meaning, I still just find myself grooving to the beat and the flow of his voice. The lyrics are thought provoking and don’t fall victim to the current trends in hip hop today. I usually find myself more as of a lyricist fan than a beat fan. But when you’ve got the perfect combo, what can go wrong.

Here is the video for Black Morning: An artistic and introspective look at a persons fight with self while debating life and death
